The Wine
Tucked away in the corner of a classic Mid-Century building in the Houston Heights, Reata Cellars sits in the middle of one of the city’s most exciting food neighborhoods — surrounded by Michelin-recognized restaurants and James Beard Award-winning chefs.
And right in the middle of it all is a little neighborhood wine bar doing things a bit differently.
At Reata, wine and music have always had a lot in common. Both are art. A winemaker pours a little of their soul into a bottle much like a songwriter pours theirs into a song. There’s a story behind it, a place it came from and a person who made it.
Some wines are already on the radio — familiar names, big hits, bottles you see everywhere.
Reata is more interested in the artists still waiting to be discovered — and maybe a few well-known names looking to get back to analog.
Small-production wineries. Grower Estates. Families who have farmed the same vineyards for generations. Independent winemakers doing interesting things in both celebrated and lesser-known wine regions around the world.
The collection is highly curated, but never pretentious. Some bottles are serious. Some are unexpected. Some are just damn good. And exceptional wine doesn’t have to mean an exceptional price tag.
Happy Hour Tasting Flights and Sunday Sippin’ make it easy to explore something new. Meet the Winemaker Portfolio Tastings introduce Guests to the people behind the wines. Intimate Chef-Prepared Wine Dinners bring great bottles and great food together around the same table.
And for those who want to take the discovery a little further, there’s the Inner Circle. Step behind the Velvet Rope, become a Bubbles VIP or grab a Backstage Pass. Reata’s Wine Clubs offer monthly selections, special bottles, Member tastings, first access to events and wines you’re probably not going to find everywhere else.
Because sometimes it’s not just about discovering the artist.
It’s about being in the room when the magic happens.

The Music
Reata has always been about discovery.
A bottle you haven’t tried. A winemaker you haven’t met. An artist you haven’t heard before — or maybe one you have, but never in a setting this intimate.
There’s something about hearing live music in a small room that you just don’t get anywhere else. The artist is right there. The audience is right there. Everyone is part of it.
And music at Reata isn’t exactly an accident.
Owner Sandy Epps spent a good part of her life in the music business — from Houston’s legendary Album Rock station KLOL, to independent label Matchbox Records, and eventually artist management, earning a few Gold & Platinum records along the way.
She’s seen plenty of stadium shows and big stages. These days, it’s the smaller rooms that are a lot more interesting.
A great bottle of wine, an artist you may or may not know, and a room full of people there to actually listen.
A little more analog. A lot more human.
This is Reata Cellars.
The People
Reata has always felt a little like walking into a neighbor’s living room and opening a bottle of wine.
Owner Sandy Epps, along with Wine Pros Amy Allen and Hector Ramirez, are usually the ones welcoming you in, pouring something interesting and helping you find a bottle you might not have discovered on your own.
There’s plenty of wine knowledge in the room, but not a lot of wine attitude. Come in for a glass after work, celebrate something big, or grab a bottle and settle in with friends for some great live music.
We curate the wine. Our Guests have pretty much curated the room.
Reata has grown mostly by word of mouth — not influencers. Friends bring friends. Neighbors bring neighbors. People discover us, come back, and eventually start recognizing half the room.
So we have one unofficial rule:
Don’t tell anyone about Reata you wouldn’t want to bump into while you’re here
